Student Services I - (Counselling)

Counselling services play a central role in assisting students with the selection of school programs so that courses are chosen wisely in order that many post-secondary educational and career possibilities remain open.

Individual counselling interviews provide the student with an opportunity to discuss matters of concern with a professionally trained counsellor in complete confidence.. Your counse1lor can assist you with course selection, post-secondary educational destinations and career planning, as well as concerns of a personal nature. Students are encouraged to request an appointment with counse1lor whenever they feel it would be helpful.

Students who wish to arrange an appointment should see the counse1ling secretary , Mrs. Russell, in the guidance office. Appointments wi1l be made before and after school or during your lunch time.

Counsellors have been assigned to students alphabetically according to the student's surname.

The counsellors welcome interviews with parents. Parents may talk to a counse1lor or arrange an appointment by telephoning the school at (905) 793-2400.

Post-Secondary Educational Opportunities Seminars

This process is now underway- information about admission requirements, application procedures, deadlines, financial assistance, and educational planning literature is available to senior students. A schedule of university and college presentations has been distributed and announcements are being made daily. Students are encouraged to see their counsellors regularly for effective planning.

Student Services II - (ESL, Special Education)

The Bramalea Student Services II Department encompasses both English as a Second Language and Special Education.

In addition to ESL courses we offer two levels of literacy.

Students who have progressed through the ESL program, as needed, are able to enter and successfully complete regular English courses.

The Special Education program addresses the needs of many exceptional and non-exceptional students. Students receive support through our Learning Strategies Courses, literacy classes and our unique Lunchtime Monitoring program.

Both ESL and Special Education staff are experienced in programming for special needs students to enhance their achievement.
