Wheater The Oxford English Dictionary defines Art as "a human creative skill or its application. " In our schools Arts' courses represent the opportunity for students to nurture their very own creative skills and, through the application of such, make discoveries regarding who they are and who they can be. Arts' courses undertake to encourage young people to seek out their own means of creative expression. Visual Arts allow one to utilize a variety of media ( drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture) in order to create a result that may be both a personal statement and aesthetically pleasing. Dramatic Arts permit an individual to call upon his or her own resources (speech, movement, emotion, intellect, memory) to produce a meaningful live presentation for an attentive audience. Through Music, students explore how sound and lyrics can ultimately lead to the development of an intensely-personal view of the world. In our schools, therefore, the Arts are crucial to maintaining the integrity and value of the human condition. | |
